Greenlight Pinellas Goes to the Ballot
This month, the Pinellas County Commission voted to send Greenlight Pinellas -- the transportation referendum -- to the voters in 2014.
Whether you are for or against a comprehensive transportation referendum like Greenlight -- and recent polling has shown strong support for changes encompassed in Greelight -- the passage or failure of such a sweeping referendum will impact everyone in Pinellas County, including small business owners. Remember, Greenlight is more than just "light rail" -- if passed, it woud eliminate an existing property tax and replace it with a 1 percent sales tax.
The referendum also calls for expanding and improving bus systems throughout the county, extending bus hours, and adding regional connections, among other changes.
Such dramatic changes could mean a greatly improved business environment for many small business owners. Are you ready?
